Wait, What Was That?

So, we were on the way to church this afternoon taking the George Bush Turnpike like we normally do. I'm caffeinated from breakfast still, Grandma is talking about how she wants to go to Half Price Books after mass, and the brightness outside made everything we passed seem new and untouched. I like looking out the windows while moving in the car. Even though we take the same route  to Holy Family that we have been taking for nearly 6 years now, every once in awhile I'm treated to noticing something new. A new tree or bush, a building or gas station; anything, really. Today as we drove past my favorite piece of undeveloped property in South Irving on North Gate, I realized that there was an abandoned, classic-looking car through the trees nestled in all sorts of greenery, overrun with growth and weeds. It rested there in that spot next to a trailer that I had noticed before, but in that split-second in passing, I was fascinated by that vehicle. How did it get there? When did it get there? Who owned it previously? What's the inside of it like now? Why has no one moved it? Questions began popping into my mind like spam on a computer, and I couldn't help but let my imagination have some fun in the meantime, too. I thought:
1956. A band of young teenagers riding in the light blue Chevrolet listening to Buddy Holly, Jerry Lee Lewis, or The Temptations and going way too fast for past midnight. The youth and dopamine kept them awake and wired as they flew down the streets of South Irving singing and bellowing loudly in the asleep neighborhoods that surrounded them. With too much power on the accelerator, the teenager driving didn't have enough time to stop for a person crossing the street and quickly steered off into the grass. Brakes too hot to keep grip, the car full of boys flew down the hill and stopped abruptly as it hit the brute strength of a oak. Scared, shocked, and hearing police sirens close-by in the distance, all of them bolted into the nearby thicket. Hiding from the police until they left, the boys then examined the wrecked car and deemed it inoperable. Then, there it sat for 56 years waiting.
Of course, I bet that isn't what happened, but it's entertaining to think about what it's history could have been.
